Free Trolleys Rock Downtown

We tell you that you can get to work in 10 minutes from your Downtown Cleveland residence, but we don't tell you how to do it when the snow is up to the top of your four-inch stillettos. Well, the Greater Cleveland RTA (the best transit system in North America- literally) has the solution for you. SMILE! That's right, a smile is all it takes to get you on board the free trolleys that loop around downtown. The two routes have stops at many of the largest buildings in Downtown Cleveland and weave around several of the most populated apartments and condos in the city including Reserve Square, The Chesterfield, Statler Arms, Bridgeview and the Bingham.

The trolleys were made free by a sponsorship from the Cleveland Convention and Visitors Bureau, Cleveland State University, and the Corner Alley. Now entering their second winter, they are a great asset to downtown residents. More information on the hours of operation and maps can be found at: the RTA Website.

Home Buying is a Woman's World

Growing up in a typical baby-boomer family I was raised with many values. I treasure and preach several of these as they're all that I know. However, I've learned in the past six months that one of those principles I grew up with is no longer relevant in today's real estate market. Brace yourself gentlemen for reality: It's a woman's world.

Coming from a family where Dad brought home the paycheck and Mom took care of the household, this concept was interesting to me. Single women putting money down on $200,000+ townhomes and condos all over the city. I've seen it downtown, in Tremont, in Ohio City, and now the West Shore. What's more? Women buying their dream homes before they meet Mr. Right is not the only trend. Even when they HAVE met Mr. Right, they are still the ones doing the homework, picking the style, researching the neighborhoods, and (brace yourself again, guys) funding the down-payments.

Perhaps men just have a fear of commitment and would rent for longer periods of time. Maybe all the money they drop on little diamond rings drains their accounts for home-buying. There could be a lot of "maybes" that would still not explain this reality. When it comes to buying, City Living in Cleveland is very much a woman's world.

If you're a home-equity hungry lady, feel free to contact the City Living Group of real estate agents who can help you buy your first home here in Cleveland!

Buying can be Cheaper than Renting?!?!

It's true and it can be done. You can own a trendy condo in Downtown Cleveland and have a mortgage of less than $1000 a month. I know that people see those advertisements and look for fine print as though it's a car sale, but this is a reality. Take the Grand Arcade, for example. You can buy a "bachelor pad" there for $115,00. You're getting a city view, the standard appliance package, hardwood floors, track lighting, a pad in the Warehouse District, and a nice space to start your life as a homeowner.

So the next time you sit down to rent a downtown home, talk to a professional about buying a condo to see if that makes better sense. You can build equity, reap the tax benefits, take advantage of low interest rates, and know that you have made an early investment in downtown Cleveland.
